Overnights at the Villisca house typically begin at 4:00pm. After a walk-thru tour of the house and grounds, we will simply turn over the key and head on home. You will be asked to leave the key in a predetermined place when you leave.
Overnight tours are by reservation only and we suggest that you limit your group to ten or less. Any more than that and the small house gets even smaller. Bring your sleeping bags and pillows. The barn is located a few feet from the house and has restroom, water, and electricity. If it's spring or early fall, a blanket and heavy coat are a good idea. Photographs, videotapes and audio recordings are encouraged, however, we would appreciate it if you'd share anything you may capture on film or tape.
The price for an overnight visit is a minimum of $400.00 which allows for up to 6 guests. Each additional guest is an additional $70.00. Also add on 7% sales tax.

To book an overnight tour - call Martha at 712-621-1530 or email her at dmlinn@wildblue.net. Once Martha confirms your date, you will need to mail a $100.00 deposit to reserve. (125.00 effective Jan 1st 2012) If the deposit is not received within 7 days, your overnight will be cancelled and must be rebooked. The $25.00 is a trash and damage deposit, you must take your trash with you or and leave the house in the same condition you found it or you will loose the deposit. NOTICE All tours starting Jan 1st 2012 will be charged $25.00 if the following rules are not followed. No writing in or on the barn, no writing in or on the house, house and barn picked up and looking good, all trash put in bags and placed in receptacle provided, cigarette buts disposed of properly, no smoking in house or barn, no animals in house, no sleeping in beds, no use of flames or candles in house. Please call Martha when close and she will have a guide meet you at the house to check you in. The house is located at 508 e 2nd st.
The remainder of the fee is due at the time of the visit. Deposits are non-refundable. If for any reason, you need to reschedule your overnight visit, you must contact Martha at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date to keep your deposit. It will be applied to your rescheduled date but will not be refunded. Minors must have a parent with them no exceptions!
Please check our calendar by clicking on the link at the right. When a deposit has been paid on a date, it will show up on the calendar. If a date is blank, it may be open or we may be waiting on a deposit. Contact Martha to confirm it's availability. Please do not request a date that is already reserved.
