Thrillseekers spend Halloween in Villisca
Channel 94.1 JAMS Hosts Halloween Contest
In October of 2002, the owners of the Villisca Axe Murder House agreed to allow Channel 94.1 Jams radio station from Omaha, NE. to use the house as the location for their Halloween Thrillseekers Contest.
The decision proved to be somewhat controversial. Many people posted their comments to this website indicating they felt the use of the house in this contest was morbid and disrespectful.
As you can imagine, we have miles of audio tape for this contest. We've picked a few of best to feature on this page. Please keep in mind that no outside influence was allowed during the contest. No one from the crew entered the house. All noises heard on the tape were real. Click on the links in red to hear each clip. Please be patient, it may take the clip a few minutes to load.
Corey Young Explains Closet Dare
Contestants are to sit in the closet in the Blue Room for 60 minutes.
Paranormal Investigator Dave Christiansen Explains Presence of Lena Stillinger.
Dave Christiansen, Paranormal Investigations discussed the presence of Lena Stillinger. Dave claims he has actually seen this spirit and the Stillinger girls hid in the closet at the time of the murders. Dave confirms activity level in the house.
Tiffany in the Blue Room Closet - Clip 1
Tiffany begins her dare by singing to the spirits of Lena and Ina Stillinger. A door is heard closing in the house.
Tiffany invites Lena and Ina into the room. Tapping noises are heard on the tape.
On her way out of the house, Tiffany notices that the kitchen chairs, which had been up to the table when she entered, had been moved to face the kitchen door. Almost as if someone was sitting in the chair watching the 94.1 crew outside. Tiffany also heard cupboard doors opening and closing. The house was empty except for her.
Outside the house, the 94.1 crew picked up footsteps on the tape. John swears he couldn't hear them.
A young cat had been hanging around during several nights of taping, during this segment the cat jumped from the ground to Corey's neck. It was a very aggressive attack that left claw marks on Corey's skin. There was nothing that startled the cat or instigated the attack.
John hears a very loud footstep in the house.
Corey discusses footsteps on the stairwell and man's voice mumbling on the audio feed. John denies hearing anything. Amber enters the house.
Amber feels someone pinch her leg.
Amber refuses to discuss what is happening to her in the house. Appparently she asked the spirits to provide her with some validation that they were there and received it.
Amber finally discusses what happened to her in the closet. Noises, lights, etc. Alex discusses his dare.
Psychic discusses presence of Mr. Stillinger in the house. Corey has Alex invite Mr. Stillinger in to visit.
Alex begins hearing noises outside of the bedroom.
Tiffany is sent home.
Day 3 --Children's Room
Corey Young explains the dare. Contestants will be in the Children's Bedroom Upstairs for 90 minutes.
Amber Children's Room - Clip 1
Amber prepares to enter the house. She and Corey discuss the events of the night before.
Amber is in tears and complains of a heavy feeling and feeling someone touching her.
Dave Christiansen explains activity in the house.
Dave discusses a presence in the attic. Describes a red-headed man standing behind him.
Amber is still complaining of someone touching her head. She is hearing noises in the room, complains about feeling heavy and that her feet are freezing.
Amber is breathing heavily, feels someone touching her head and arms. She also complains of smelling and hearing things.
Amber complains of stomach pains and that she cannot walk . She's still hearing strange noises and sees flashing lights. The noises Amber is hearing can be heard on the audio.
Amber gets out of the house and explains what she was feeling to Corey.
Alex prepares to enter the Children's Room
Alex discusses what happened when the group entered the house at 4:00 a.m.
Alex invites Mrs. Moore to join him in the Children's Room, noises can be heard in the room as Alex feels something tugging on his jacket trying to pull him backwards.
Alex doesn't feel like he's the only one in the room. Complains of feeling cold and the tugging returns to his right leg. Feels something touching the back of his calf.
Alex feels someone messing with his hair on the back of his head, video equipement keeps blurring in and out.
Day Four - Attic
Corey tells Amber that he's seeing orbs of light on the video camera feed. Amber is seeing things all over the attic. She asks someone not to talk to her.
The Crew outside hears a whisper in the attic calling Corey's name. Amber is having trouble talking, she complains of not being able to move her lips and that someone is touching her.
Corey is seeing orbs of light all over the room. Amber is breathing heavily and hearing footsteps walking up the stairs.
Corey asks Amber to turn off the camera but she can't get her flashlight to work. (all lights were tested prior to the dare.) Complains that someone keeps cutting her off when she tries to speak.
Amber hears a loud noise in the room with her.
Corey sees a dark shadow behind Amber on the video feed. Amber refuses to leave the attic due to the noises she has been hearing in the lower level and on the stairs. Amber sees an orb of light.
Alex talks about having problems in the attic when he tried to film.
Corey tells Alex he's hearing growling noises on the audio feed.
Corey tells Alex that there is no one downstairs. The crew was set up outside the front door and would have seen someoneenter. Alex complains of an uncomfortable cold feeling that came over him. Thinks there may still be something downstairs.
Alex calls out to the spirits to join him and feels someone brush up against his face. His right leg is feeling warm but left leg is cold.
Alex is sent downstairs to look for a spare video tape. Corey is seeing orbs all over the attic. Alex hears the screen door downstairs opening and footsteps downstairs. He hears someone walking around the house.
Alex asks the spirits in the house is Tupac Shakur is alive or Dead. The answer will suprise you.
Alex gets an answer to his question and thanks the spirits for their reply.
